Composer Residency Competition

2013/14 Season

The Music in the Loft Composer-in-Residence Program provides repeated and very beneficial exposure to young composers. The composer-in-residence receives two performances of already existing chamber ensemble works, as well as a $2,500 commission for a new chamber piece to be premiered at the Loft during the 2013/14 season. Attendance at all three performances is required. The hotel and travel costs are provided.

Eligibility

Composers must be born after January 1, 1973. Only complete applications will be considered.

Timeline

April 18, 2012 - Applications Due (received by)
June 1, 2012 - 2013/14 Season Composer-in-Residence Announced
June 1, 2013 - Deadline for Commissioned Work

Application Requirements

  • One page biography, including current contact information (phone, address, email, website)
  • List of chamber works scored for 5 or less instruments, with dates of composition and durations for each work
  • Two scores of recent chamber pieces along with matching recordings on CD
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your materials returned
